Dell’Oro predicts that sales of liquid cooling will reach $3.5 billion by 2028.

Private RAN revenue increased by about 40% in 2023, according to Dell’Oro Group, despite a decline in the final quarter.

According to the research company, private infrastructure made up about 2% of the total RAN market.

By 2028, it estimated that private 5G RAN revenue would decrease by between $1 billion and $5 billion.

While public RAN continues to support the majority of overall capex, “private wireless is now growing at a formidable pace,” according to VP Stefan Pongratz.

This contrasts with enterprise WLAN and public RAN: According to Pongratz, “both segments are expected to contract in 2024.”

Over the next five years, private wireless RAN revenue is expected to rise at a CAGR of 21%, while public RAN revenue is expected to fall by 2%.

While private wireless presents a significant opportunity, “it will take some time for enterprises” to adopt private mobile technologies, according to Dell’Oro Group.

It stated that in 2023, Ericsson, Nokia, and Huawei would emerge as the top three private wireless RAN suppliers.

AI will drive a rapid shift to liquid cooling systems over the next five years Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to spur massive growth in the liquid cooling market over the next five years, with the technology expected to account for nearly a third of all data center thermal management spending by 2028. Liquid cooling is used in data centers to remove heat from servers. Air cooling systems currently account for 90% of the market.

Dell’Oro Group made that prediction after updating its long-term outlook for data center physical infrastructure (DCPI).

In an exclusive interview with Silverlinings, Research Director Lucas Beran focused on thermal management solutions, despite the fact that the DCPI market includes power distribution solutions as well. He said that the market for thermal management, which includes both air and liquid cooling systems, will grow by 14% CAGR to reach $12 billion between 2023 and 2028.

By 2028, it is anticipated that liquid cooling solutions, such as direct, immersion, and rear-door heat exchanger systems, will account for $3.5 billion of that $12 billion. That contrasts with Dell’Oro’s earlier prediction that the global market for liquid cooling would reach $1.8 billion by 2027.
